Salford Cathedral & The Cathedral Centre, Manchester
The works consisted of the removal of the roofs to the cloisters and sacristy, new lead valleys, aprons, gutters and re-slating using the existing materials, a design scaffold was used keeping the building dry during the construction works. As well as the roofing works, we were contracted to restore the diamond leaded light windows, make timber repairs and refurbish the existing window frames, we also carried out internal remodelling works.
The second phase of works involved fully scaffolding the Cathedral Centre, all the sliding sash windows renovated and restored, the whole building was raked out and repointed using hydraulic lime mortars, sandstone features were replaced where required, cast iron rainwater goods were replaced like for like with the hoppers remade to match the existing damaged ones, in addition the whole of the flat roof was removed and replaced with a Bauder system.
